About John M. Clum

John M. Clum is Professor Emeritus of Theater Studies and English at Duke University. He is the author of nine monographs and eighty scholarly essays, and editor of seven volumes on modern and contemporary American and British drama, musical theatre and film with an emphasis on gay male representation. He has directed over eighty professional and university theatrical and operatic productions. His play Randy’s House was produced in many theatres across the U.S. John was the librettist for two operas which had New York premieres: Heartbreak Express (2015; Music by George Lam), and Rumplestiltskin (2018; Music by George Lam and Ruby Fulton). John has been Board President of Rhymes With Opera (New York), and Raven Theatre (Chicago). He resides in Chicago.
