John M Clum is Professor Emeritus of Theater Studies and English at Duke University. He is the author of books and scholarly essays on modern and contemporary British and American drama, film, and musical theatre with a focus on gay male representation. He has directed over eighty university and professional theatre and operatic productions. His play Randy’s House was performed in theatres across the United States. John is the librettist for two operas that had New York premieres: Heartbreak Express (2015; Music, George Lam) and Rumplestiltskin (2018; Music, George Lam and Ruby Fulton). John has been Board President of Rhymes With Opera (New York) and Raven Theatre (Chicago). John currently resides in Chicago.
